Darjeeling Inspiration. Good Wednesday evening! We are happy to present our second cross-tasting session with @sciencesthe and @qtnmthperfumes! Amongst the Darjeeling autumn flush teas selected by Vikram Mittal, there was this one...a clonal tea, the highest grade, totally exceptional and of a rare complexity, very atypical for an Autumn flush. Here is what they thought of it! ...

Today is my first post for my @sanskriti.collection tea tasting collaboration with the amazing @sciencesthe. As a perfume lover, my approach will of course be more focused on the olfactory/taste aspect of the tea. As mentioned in my previous post about tea tasting, gathering all the notes during a tea session is my favourite part of the experience. I mostly do so with unscented teas, but when great quality scented teas come my way, it instantly peaks my interest.

Here is a tea that could very well have been presented for Valentine's Day! In the middle of the Indian rose petals of this fragrant blend are hidden "silvers needles" from the Darjeeling gardens, a white tea made only with the buds of tea trees. But there is also vetiver, which I did not know at all but which is well used in perfumery. An excellent idea. ⁣...

I'm back at it again with Indian teas. I received a nice set of terroirs from the Indian @sanskriti.collection. And this time I even wanted to receive some scented tea in addition to the fall harvest!⁣ ⁣ In tea, I love the pretty manufactures. Today's tea called "Vanilla of India" has a very interesting history. It was developed almost 10 years ago by Vikram of @mittalteas by mixing vanilla bean seeds from Kerala with Darjeeling tea. Tests with Assam tea...

TEA TASTING Sometimes people come up to me and ask me how come I am so passionate about tea. My answer is that I love the different aspects involved in tea drinking and the whole culture around this beverage. Tea tasting is probably one of the best examples of the fasinating nature of tea drinking...

Sciences Thé has caught a bad cold! No new tastings to come in the next few days. But I have some archives that I was planning, like this new test of Assam Black Gold tea. ⁣ Renamed "Bengal Gold" by @sanskriti.collection, I found this tea very typical of Assam: tannic, woody, spicy....

What better way to light up the night with golden tips. The glow (or rather the smell!) of this mix of black and gold leaves straight from Assam by @mittalteas gives off a powerful scent! ⁣ ⁣ As expected on an Assam, the liquor is tannic but the notes that compose it are refined: waxed wood....

Very late summer in my teapot, here is a black tea 2nd flush from Sikkim, a small state in northern India bordered by Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and West Bengal! ⁣ ⁣ An atypical region, which offers beautiful terroirs for tea. The character here is halfway between....

Muscatel teas from @mittalteas are here! Again this year, @sanskriti.collection sent me some samples of the 2021 summer harvest. So-called "muscatel" teas are actually teas that develop a stronger "muscatel" fruity aroma due to insect bites on the leaves like jassids. A bit like the oriental....
